Smith Expands Threshold Drain Product Line

Jay R. Smith Mfg. Co. is pleased to announce an expansion to its line of Threshold Drain products with models that require different flow rates.

The 2018 International Building Code, Section 3007.3, requires high-rise buildings to have a method of preventing water from infiltrating the elevator hoistway. Different geographic areas have varying flow rate requirements. As such, four new 9678 Series drains have been added to the product line in 25, 50, 75, and 100 GPM models. These models add to the Figure No. 9679 100 GPM threshold drain that Jay R. Smith Mfg. Co.® introduced to the market in 2017.

Threshold drains are ADA-compliant, and the drain depth is 1.75"–2", shallow enough to fit within the topping slab. Anchor straps are provided standard for ease of installation, creating a mechanical lock into the slab. Several options allow installation to be tailored to the application.
