Jay L. Smith became President of Jay R. Smith Mfg. Co.® in 1973 after twenty years of training in the plumbing and drainage industry. At age fifteen, he began his career with Jay R. Smith Mfg. Co.® in the Engineering Department. Jay then performed summer work in various manufacturing departments while he completed his high school and college education. He then enlisted in the Navy Officer Candidate School program and served on active duty for three and a half years, attaining the rank of LTJG, before returning to full time work at Jay R. Smith Mfg. Co.® in 1965.

Upon the retirement of Mr. George Corkery, was promoted to Export Manager for the International Sales Department working under the tutelage of Mr. Arthur W. Samuels. Currently serving the company as International Sales Manager.
