Jay R. Smith Mfg. Co.® is a leading manufacturer of quality engineered plumbing and drainage products in the
non-residential construction industry. All Smith products are designed for adaptability, conformance to codes, ease of installation, and maximum performance efficiency.
The “yellow product,” as it is known in the industry for its distinctive yellowish color, can be found in commercial buildings across the
United States and around the world. These products are installed in schools, restaurants, courthouses, stadiums, office buildings, convention centers, airport terminals, hospitals, prisons, and other public and private buildings.
The Smith manufacturing facility is made up of receiving, shipping, warehousing, a machine shop, a fabricating facility, assembly,
plating, polishing, enameling, and painting. Tons of finished cast iron, stainless steel, brass, nickel and steel products are shipped from the plant
daily to a network of representatives, who warehouse these plumbing and drainage products for sale to local markets.
Products in the Smith line include

sanitary floor sinks,
cleanouts and access covers,
interceptors,
hydrants,
trench drains,
water hammer arresters,
specialty (stainless steel and carbon steel drains), and
backwater valves.
Jay R. Smith Mfg. Co.® is also able to create plumbing and drainage products to meet specific customer requirements. There are
referred to as Special Quote products. Along with Smith’s “special quote” products, some of the specialty product lines available from Smith are:
• The Smith/ACO Trench Drain Series (polymer concrete and fiberglass surface drainage systems);
• The Enviro-Flo® Trench Drain Series (a polypropylene surface drainage system);
• The Ultracept® Oil/Water Separator (separates oil, grease, and other hydrocarbons from wastewater);
• The Labor Saver® Fixture Support (a one-piece rigid frame fixture support);
• The Guardian®
Dual Check Hydrant (provides positive non-freeze protection with an integral vacuum breaker and dual check valve);
• The Flood-Gate® Automatic Backwater Valve (closes automatically when backup is detected in sanitary sewer line); and
• The Remediator® Grease Treatment System (designed to eradicate suspended fats, oils, and grease at the source).
Jay R. Smith Mfg. Co.® continues to expand its product offerings to meet the needs of today’s changing construction demands.
In 2005, Jay R. Smith Mfg. Co.® introduced
JRS Products. This product line is designed for light commercial and design-build projects. The JRS Products group features roof drains, floor drains, cleanouts, sanitary floor sinks, water hammer arresters, hydrants, traps, backwater valves and interceptors. These products are offered in cast iron, ABS, PVC and polypropylene.
More recently, Smith introduced several new products and lines:
Green Building
Products (a collection of green plumbing and drainage products);
Boss Tee, Cleanout and Test Tee (for DWV piping systems);
Siphonic Roof Drains (roof drains that promote the principle of full-bore flow within the roof drainage piping);
Grease+Gard® Retrofit Skimmer and Grease Recovery Device
(automatically removes fat, oil, and grease from an interceptor);
FormIt® Drain Installation Device
(permits the pre-assembly of the drain to the deck);
Sentinel Alarm System (designed to notifying the building maintenance staff or homeowner there is a backup condition detected in the sewer line); and
Rainwater Harvesting Filters and Packages
(rainwater harvesting is a technology used to collect, convey and store rain from relatively clean surfaces such as a roof for later use).

Plating and Polishing Services, www.smithplating.com was introduced in the summer 2007. This site features our decorative chrome plating services for a wide variety of products including
antiques, automotive and motorcycle parts, and dental, surgical, hospital, fire protection, food processing, and retail display equipment.
